Jesi Mendez Salon

Our Story

A Legacy of Beauty, Expertise, and Innovation

At the heart of our story is our founder, Jesi Mendez—a true pioneer in the Philippine beauty industry whose vision transformed a humble beginning into one of the country's most respected salon brands.

CHAPTER ONE

The Beginning Of
PIONEER

Before becoming a household name in beauty, Jesi Mendez pursued his creative passion by studying Fine Arts at the University of Santo Tomas. His artistic foundation would later become the cornerstone of his approach to hairstyling, where every haircut, color, and transformation was treated as a work of art.

In the late 1970s, Jesi began his career in a modest “hole-in-the-wall” salon along Buendia. Despite its simple beginnings, word quickly spread about his exceptional talent and personalized approach to beauty. Demand grew so rapidly that clients were accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis, often willing to wait for the opportunity to experience his work.

As his reputation continued to grow, Jesi launched Woman’s Journal, a beauty and lifestyle magazine that featured his signature before-and-after makeovers. The publication became a popular platform that showcased dramatic transformations and beauty education, further establishing his name in the industry for over a decade.

CHAPTER TWO

Building the First Jesi
Mendez Salon

The success of his early venture enabled Jesi to acquire an existing salon in Evangelista, previously owned by a Taiwanese entrepreneur. This milestone marked the birth of the very first Jesi Mendez Salon branch.

The grand opening attracted celebrities, industry leaders, and notable personalities, generating significant buzz and recognition. Some of the country’s biggest stars became loyal clients:

  • Sharon Cuneta
  • Pops Fernandez
  • Kuh Ledesma
  • Zsa Zsa Padilla
  • And many prominent personalities from entertainment, politics, and public life
CHAPTER THREE

Pursuing Excellence
Around the World

Driven by a desire to continuously elevate his craft, Jesi sought advanced training from some of the world’s most prestigious beauty institutions:

  • Marinello School of Cosmetology in Los Angeles, California
  • Vidal Sassoon Academy in San Francisco, California
  • Toni & Guy Academy in Singapore

Demonstrating his dedication to professional excellence, Jesi also successfully passed the United States cosmetology board examination and earned his U.S. cosmetology license — bringing global techniques and standards back to the Philippines.

  • Mutya ng Pilipinas
  • Binibining Pilipinas
  • Miss World Philippines

Jesi Mendez Salon also became a trusted beauty partner for television and entertainment productions, sponsoring well-known programs such as:

  • Two for the Road with Elvira Manahan
  • The Late Night Show with June and Johnny

  • Penthouse 7 with Pops Fernandez

These partnerships further cemented the brand’s reputation as a leader in beauty, fashion, and image transformation.

CHAPTER FIVE

Growing With the Times

As shopping malls became the new centers of lifestyle and retail, Jesi recognized the opportunity to bring professional salon services closer to more clients. The brand opened its first mall-based branch at Robinsons Galleria, followed by expansion into Alabang Town Center and Trinoma Center Mall.

Additional branches were established in Glorietta, New World Hotel, Cash & Carry, Bonifacio Global City, and other strategic destinations — evolving from a single salon into a nationally recognized beauty brand through decades of growth, innovation, and trusted service.

TODAY

The Jesi Mendez Legacy

Today, Jesi Mendez Salon proudly operates 12 locations nationwide through both company-owned and franchise branches. While the brand has expanded significantly, its core values remain unchanged: exceptional craftsmanship, continuous learning, personalized care, and a commitment to helping every client look and feel their best.

What makes the Jesi Mendez story truly remarkable is that the founder’s passion remains as strong as ever. To this day, Jesi Mendez continues to personally cut hair, mentor professionals, interact with clients, and guide the growth of the brand.

“More than a salon brand, Jesi Mendez Salon represents a legacy of artistry, innovation, and beauty expertise that has been trusted by generations of Filipinos — and continues to inspire the future of the industry.”
